Does anyone see anything wrong with this item?
CTV.ca Family booted from plane after tot's tantrum I suppose I'm in the minority, but the story rankles and not for the reason the writer seems to have intended. My viewpoint is that the airline was entirely right. In fact, the airline offered the family a full refund AND a free flight at a later date. When did civilization and common sense expire? I suspect it was during my lifetime, but I didn't notice the obituary...

Clare had a
BAFAB contest asking for "the most original/worthwhile/fantastic/exciting thing (although it doesn't have to be all these) you intend to do this year ". I couldn't come up with anything original, fantastic or exciting but I thought mine sort-of qualified as 'worthwhile'. Now, in fairness, I didn't deserve to win. I personally voted for someone else's entry. I'm sticking by my 'resolution' though. I quite like it, actually. Here's my entry:
Life experience has taught me to be grateful for small things, so I'm crossing Everest and all the lesser Himalayas off my 'to-do' list this year. My hopes and dreams are purer, simpler things.
I hope to get up each morning whether I feel like it or not. I'll face the worst day of the year in the same way I face the best. If I fall into a lake of mud, I will not wallow. I'll claw and kick and find my way out.
I'll try to be pleasant to people who don't seem very pleasant themselves. In the face of incivility I will try to be civil myself.
I'll look into people's eyes and if I see pain, I'll look for something I might do to help.
I'm going to try to feel less 'responsible' this year. I might even leave dirty dishes on the counter sometimes.
I'm going to read more and work less.
I'm going to be less serious about life! I'm going to draw lots of happy faces and little waving hands.
I think I'll get a scooter. (Not a motorized one - one that looks like a skateboard with a handle.)
I'm going to try not to break any bones!

slavering over Kiefer Sutherland. Of course, I felt it my duty to be the voice of reason. I wouldn't be so rude as to point out Mr. S's deficiencies, but I did offer a much better alternative. All of this led me to give some serious consideration to mating preferences...
When we were children my sister and I played 'dressup' and we chose dressup husbands for ourselves. She chose Hugh O'Brien. I chose the ever-so-much-better Brian Keith. At the time our choices were limited by the celebrity pool we had access to - television stars. Let's play dressup right now!
Your choice is limited to 'public' people, people we can all recognize. Imagine yourself without that charming cookie who's sitting across from you at the table... Who would you choose? I think we need one further stipulation: You will have to imagine this as more than a 'one night stand'. Imagine yourself stuck with this person for at least five years.
At Kimmy's blog I commented on the attractiveness of Benjamin Netanyahu, but the 'stuck for five years' rule eliminates him.
When all is considered, I have to go for intelligence myself. My choice probably wouldn't make it to the final round in a beauty contest, but I could stand his company for five years. James Carville. (I'll take Netanyahu for the one night stand.) Now, who would you choose?
